SHOWCASE INFO FOR IMPERSONATORS AND LOOK A LIKES
The Sunburst STARZ ON STAGE
SINGING ACTS: You may perform one song or
medly routine totaling no more than 4 Minutes. IT IS ALWAYS BEST TO
PERFORM AN UPBEAT SONG! TRUST US! Also, if your performance is only 3
minutes and 5 seconds....go ahead and leave your performance at that.
In other words, don't try to make the time up by talking to the
audience. It makes you look more professional to finish the
performance and leave the stage. The old saying "Leave them
wanting more." became famous for a reason.
COMEDY ACTS: You will be given 5 minutes
to perform your best material this year. You will be given HAND HELD
microphones. You will hear music at 04:50. Please end your act then
as the microphone will be silenced at 5 minutes. Please keep your act
"Corporate Friendly". Save your BEST JOKE for the end of
your 5 minutes! PLEASE don't go over!
LOOK A LIKES (Non musical or non-comedy
acts): You will be presented on stage BOTH DAYS. You will be
introducing an act on BOTH Days. This is your opportunity to
SHINE! If your character gets booked for Meet and Greet only, this is
the BEST way to show the talent buyers what you are about! No
musical or comedy routine is required for these Look Alikes.
TRIBUTE BANDS: Tribute Bands will
be able to show up to a 4 minute video of their act. We are not
set up to accommodate live bands so this is a great way to showcase
their act. In many cases, it's better than a LIVE performance
for a showcase. It's like a mini- Informercial for the
band. This worked VERY WELL for bands in the past.
Please limit this showcase to NO MORE than 4 minutes for singers
and 5 minutes for comedy acts. DO NOT exceed your time limit as
it makes you look unprofessional. The agents/buyers know how
much time you are supposed to have.
PLEASE NOTE: A "NO SHOWCASE
TICKET" means NO STAGE TIME AT ALL. No interview, no
presentation, no appearance on stage.
-------------------------------------------
BOTH DAYS...
Call or email him if you have questions. Ericrung@gmail.com
You must email or "snail
mail" your back up track (if you are using one) to Greg at Music@SunburstConvention.com.
Please send it no later than October 31, 2013. It must be in
MP3 format. Make sure it is "titled" properly. Also,
mail your DVD (if you are using one) to us at our regular address on
the contact page.
YOU MUST ATTEND THE STAGE MANAGERS
MEETING at the appropriate times. PLEASE check the
schedule. If you do not show up at the stage manager's meeting,
you WILL be removed from the line up.
IF YOU MISS THE STAGE MANAGER'S MEETING, YOUR SHOWCASE SPOT WILL
BE GIVEN TO AN ENTERTAINER ON THE WAIT LIST. NO EXCEPTIONS. THERE
WILL BE NO REFUNDS.
EVERYONE:
Bring your promotional material to be displayed BOTH DAYS of the
showcases. It will be displayed on The PROMO Table for the agents'
convenience to pick up after the showcases. Please stand by your
material (at the table) and greet the talent buyers in person after
the showcase on both days. This will be in a separate room this year
and you will have more room to display your wares. You will
have an area of 30"x 30" in which to set up your display.
Stand ups are okay so long as they do not interfere with other
Artist's Promo. Nothing is allowed to be taped or pinned to a
wall. Small DVD Players will be allowed this year. Electricity
is NOT provided. You would need to set up an exhibitor's booth if you
need more than this.
Bring LOTS of business cards. Give them to everyone...even the bartender.
DO NOT HAND PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL (OTHER THAN BUSINESS CARDS) TO
BUYERS AT OUR SOCIAL EVENTS. They will have no place to keep it. No
videos, DVD's or head shots. Please remember, the buyers are enjoying
themselves and socializing as well at these particular social events.
We will have a wig specialist, photographer, videographer,
costumer and other vendors available. These are VENDORS and The
Sunburst Convention is not responsible for their work or claims.
AND...these services are not free. They are individual vendors.
We will have a video production company there to record your
showcase. This is seperate from your Sunburst Registration.
Eric Rung is the Technical Director of The Sunburst Convention. He
is setting us up with several thousand dollars worth of Brand New,
State of the Art, High Tech Sound Systems and Microphones with
Pearson Lighting! Sound checks are at the discretion of our
Technical Director. If you have concerns, please MAKE SURE you
tell Lori, the Stage Manager.
Final line up will be approved by The Stage Manager to obtain the
best flow for the show. Keep in mind, this is a showcase and we must
present over 50 entertainers on stage within a 4 hour period. The
agents know that. We will not be able to accommodate every special
request by every entertainer. The audio will be set for the
best sound for the room.
*Non-registered Entertainers coming to the
showcases (as spectators) must not be in costume or else pay $50 to
attend. Agents/buyers will be instructed to inform us if
non-registered entertainers are promoting themselves in any way.
ANY costumed entertainer or
impesonator/tribute/look a like attending ANY Sunburst function (on
or off property) without registering beforehand will be asked to
leave or pay full price on the spot. YOU MUST be registered
with the convention to enter the Hospitality Suite or The Sunburst
Lounge. No exceptions.
Before and during the showcases, please address any showcase
concerns with Lynn Frey (Production Manager). Actually, please see
Lynn first with any concerns. See Eric Rung concerning any audio
questions and see OUR STAGE MANAGER with any questions concerning the
showcase, including line up, props, etc.
Agents may pick up promotional material at any time during the
showcases as long as they are registered as FULL ACCESS. SHOWCASE
ONLY BUYERS must wait until after the showcase to pick up artists
material. All Artists' material will be displayed on the PROMO TABLES
both days. You may bring Business cards, Videos, DVD's, CD's,
Headshots, etc. to give out to talent buyers. We would suggest about
60 promo packages.
PROMO PACKAGES SUGGESTION: As an entertainer myself, I understand
the problem with giving out sooo many promo packages. Many times an
agent will still call you and ask for another one. We might suggest
that this year, you use "ONE SHEETS". This is a full page
promo with YOUR PHOTO on one side and your BIO or Show Description on
the other. Make it look professional! Call a printing company. A Show
or Performance Description is best. Do NOT put your resume on there.
Make sure your Name and Contact Info are on the back. If the agent is
interested, they can call you. You can then send them your DVD and
complete promo package then. It saves packing space and $$...if you
want to go this route. Many artists will bring everything.
However, keep in mind, we are giving an award for the "Best
Promo Package" and the "Best One Sheet".
